Pasadena Now Article
Pasadena, CA, September 28, 2017– Marshall Fundamental Secondary School’s Academy for Creative Industries (ACI) hosted its "ACI Career Day" on September 27th. The ACI Career Day’s purpose was to provide students with direct exposure to professionals in the creative arts industries and the opportunity to earn work-based learning hours. Students acquired firsthand knowledge how professional artists use the creative process in their respective fields. They learned the importance of respecting and starting from the bottom, having determination, and using collaboration as a key skill. Our Keynote speaker emphasized continuing education through appreciation of all the arts including visiting museums, observing light, appreciating photography, attending musical concerts, traveling abroad, and most importantly attending college. ACI is part Pasadena Unified School District’s College and Career Pathway Program and prepares students for various pathways to college and careers. Our illustrious list of presenters included:
- Keynote Speaker, J. Kevin Swain, music video director, and producer who's worked with a variety of artists in array of music genres. Artists include Tupac Shakur, John Legend, Erykah Badu, Black Eyed Peas, Pink, Linkin Park, David Bowie; clients include AEG, BET, Centric, Eagle Rock Productions, Universal Records, and many more.
